The Generator Technician will be responsible for performing power generation equipment preventive maintenance, in-depth corrective maintenance and complete start-up testing as assigned. In addition, they will prepare written estimates for recommended corrective repairs noted during any service. The outcome of this position is to provide direct hands-on maintenance of customer's power generation equipment in order to support all aspects in the overall service and parts sales associated with the Service Department.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following:
Proven Generator Technician Experience
Education and Training Highschool diploma or Equivalent required with Post-secondary education in Generator engineering, electrical technology, or a related field is often preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools for electrical work.
Generator Systems: Familiarity with various types of generators, including diesel generators, gas generators, and standby generators.
Licensing and Certification: Drivers License required Plus such as an electrical contractor's license or a generator technician certification.
Customer Service: Good customer service skills, especially if the position involves interacting with clients or providing technical support.
Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, which includes a motor vehicle check, and drug screen.
Must be able to progress through the qualification levels within a defined timeline. Technicians must fully complete 100% of the required items and skills listed for their current Level before being considered for advancement to the next Level
The progression timeline is as follows:
