Job Description
We are seeking an Associate Attorney. This is a great opportunity for a highly-motivated attorney be an integral part of a growing firm. You will represent clients in unlawful detainer and other civil proceedings, as well as administrative hearings with the City of Los Angeles and/or the rent control board.
Responsibilities:
· Represent clients in court or before government agencies
· Represent landlords and affordable housing providers in housing-related issues, including: inception/termination of tenancy; Fair Housing and similar complaints.
· Motion practice, including drafting complaints/responsive pleadings.
· Draft and argue your own motions in court
· Propound and respond to discovery
· Take and defend depositions
· Prepare and draft legal documents
· Advise clients on business and legal transactions
· Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
· Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law
Qualifications:
· Prior civil litigation experience preferred
· Previous experience in unlawful detainer preferred
· Bilingual English/Spanish Speaker preferred
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Must be a licensed State Bar of California member; no paralegals, legal assistants, or office managers needed.
Salary range is $100K to $150K, or commensurate with experience.
