This role is designed for a storyteller who understands that great editing is not about noise or speed, but about clarity, rhythm, and emotional resonance. You will transform long-form conversations into engaging YouTube episodes and high-performing short-form clips tailored for modern platforms. Working closely with the content producer, you will help shape raw footage into thoughtful, polished narratives that respect the viewer’s time while maintaining authenticity. The environment is highly creative, fast-moving, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on editorial judgment and ownership. You will also contribute to shaping visual identity, pacing, and storytelling structure across formats. Accountabilities Edit long-form YouTube episodes (typically 40–75 minutes), transforming raw conversations into polished, engaging, and platform-ready content. Craft compelling intros and hooks within the first 60 seconds to capture and retain viewer attention without relying on clickbait tactics. Enhance storytelling through subtle visual elements such as zooms, reframing, lower thirds, on-screen text, and light motion graphics. Maintain strong narrative pacing throughout long-form content to balance intellectual depth with viewer engagement. Integrate music, b-roll, and sound design where appropriate to support tone, emotion, and context. Extract high-impact moments from long-form content and adapt them into 30–90 second short-form clips optimized for social platforms. Produce vertical videos (9:16) for platforms like Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts with strong hooks, captions, and pacing designed for immediate engagement. Collaborate closely with the content producer to align on editorial direction, iterate quickly, and refine storytelling approaches. Maintain clean project organization, file management, and consistent delivery standards across all content outputs. Contribute ideas and editorial feedback to continuously improve content quality, audience retention, and storytelling effectiveness. Requirements 3+ years of experience in video editing, with a strong portfolio focused on YouTube long-form content. Deep understanding of YouTube storytelling, including pacing, audience retention, hook creation, and viewer psychology. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve; familiarity with After Effects or motion graphics is a plus. Experience creating short-form vertical content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts. Strong editorial judgment with the ability to decide what enhances or detracts from narrative flow. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain creative decisions clearly. A portfolio or showreel demonstrating versatility, especially in talking-head or conversation-based content. Strong sense of platform-native storytelling and awareness of current social video trends. Ability to work independently in a small, high-trust, remote team environment. Familiarity with AI-assisted editing tools or captioning/subtitling workflows is a plus.
