Lead Color Designer:

Our client is seeking a highly creative and strategic Lead Color Designer to drive seasonal color direction across a dynamic sportswear footwear portfolio. This individual will bring a strong balance of artistic vision and product-focused execution, partnering cross-functionally to translate consumer insights and trends into compelling color stories. The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about bringing concepts to life from ideation through production.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Lead Color Designer Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of seasonal color strategies and narratives across men’s and women’s footwear product lines.
  • Translate consumer insights, trend research, and brand direction into cohesive and commercially relevant color palettes.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product management, development, and other creative partners to execute end-to-end color concepts.
  • Apply color theory and material knowledge to both soft and hard goods, ensuring alignment with product intent and construction.
  • Create and present compelling visual materials that communicate design vision and storytelling to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency across product categories and head-to-toe design alignment.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality work within tight timelines.

Lead Color Designer Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in color design or a related field, preferably within footwear, apparel, or consumer products.
  • Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, with the ability to create polished design presentations.
  • Deep understanding of color theory, harmony, and application within physical product design.
  • Experience working with real, tangible products and applying color across a variety of materials and constructions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate design intent clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with 3D or AI-driven visualization tools such as Vizcom is a plus.
  • Passion for sportswear, footwear, or related industries, with an understanding of current and emerging trends.
