Overview Under the supervision of the assigned supervisor/manager, provides an effective and efficient program of first aid, emergency care, injury prevention, athletic training, and preconditioning for athletes in intercollegiate sports activities. Responsibilities Functions as liaison between physician, coaches, parents, student-athletes and administration. Oversees the requirement for student-athletes to complete preseason physical exams and all other pre-participation medical records, identifies factors from physical examinations that may affect safety, manages and maintains records for medical clearances, health records, and individual injuries, assists with insurance claims, oversees electronic record-keeping and training, administers emergency care, treats acute and chronic conditions, evaluates physical conditions of injured athletes, develops and implements programs for routine and corrective exercises, provides rehabilitation services using modalities such as ultrasound and hydrotherapy, designs taping and bracing protocols, supervises conditioning and reconditioning programs, implements concussion management plan with baseline testing and return-to-play protocol, assists with mental health management policy, monitors environmental conditions and recommends modifications for safety, assists in protective equipment selection, arranges transportation for injured athletes, represents athletic team at contests, provides services for visiting teams and home events, maintains athletic training room, develops Emergency Action Plans for athletic facilities, prepares budgets and orders equipment, educates student-athletes on health and safety. Experience Two years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required for Athletic Trainer certification; current Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates required. Education must be from an accredited institution.
