Job Description

Summary: This entry-level position involves training on various tasks including the decontamination and assembly of surgical instruments. Progression to Technician II depends on tenure and demonstrated proficiency as evaluated by supervisory staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ideally, candidates will have around six months of experience in sterile processing or a related field, though this is not mandatory. Experience in instrument handling or operating room settings is preferred but training will be provided for the right individual. Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for following and conveying instructions.

Manual dexterity and motor coordination are critical for processing and sterilizing delicate instruments and equipment. The role requires the ability to pull surgical cases, visual acuity for detailed work, and physical stamina to handle instrument trays weighing up to 50 pounds and push carts loaded up to 100 pounds. Extended periods of standing are also expected.

Education and Certifications: No specific licenses or certifications are required at entry, but relevant training or certification in sterile processing is advantageous.

Work Environment: This position operates within a busy hospital setting serving a broad southeastern regional area of the United States, supporting surgical and patient care teams with essential instrument sterilization services.
